Trained by Bridget Stidolph, this filly has won her last four starts, including the Fillies Classic and the Grade Three Zimbabwe Guineas. In December she won a 1700m MR 65 Handicap with some reasonable older horses behind her. So the chances are that she will go further and do her sire, A P Answer, proud.
Of Print The Pounds’ eight opponents in this line-up, it is Alyson Wright’s Tallie Two who has to be considered the most likely to put up a strongest challenge. She put up a disappointing performance in the Zimbabwe Guineas, but may do better over the same ground.
She has won a 1,700m Graduation Plate and on October 19, she narrowly beat Gentle Brook in the 1,600m ZRP Fillies Charity Stakes when receiving 8kgs. On that premise, she should be there on the podium for a placing if not the title. There is also Gokhan Terzi’s Ever-so-lucky to contend with.
Ever-so-lucky’s three season wins include the Breeders Fillies Mile and the 1,600m Jacaranda Tote Free, but she had to settle for third and fourth places in the Fillies Classic and the Zimbabwe Guineas.
Sunday’s static 1,600 metres could suit Ashaawes’ daughter, who will also have stable companion Latin Queen close-by. Amy Bronkhorst has entered Suave Singer, who won her first start over 1,000m on November 2 and then went on to run an absolute shocker in a 1,300m MR 65 Handicap on December 14.
She finished 19.25 lengths behind the winner, White Whisper, but she is here to take on Print The Pounds.
Bronkhorst also lines up the colt Young Antwun who along with Mica Point, Merhaba and So Ruler are the top weights in the race with 58kgs.
