We all know why the salary bill has continued to gobble so many millions of dollars over the years – because the government has allowed ghost workers in the form of youth officers and others to continue getting salaries. Coupled with the patronage system, where many are employed but do absolutely nothing, this has now unfortunately affected real and genuine civil servants who toil every day to ensure that people continue to get essential products and services.
Surely Chinamasa you cannot sacrifice the welfare of genuine civil servants over the interests of ghosts and shadowy militias that are known for terrorising parents and elders in communities.
Zanu (PF) has failed to fulfill any electoral promises made and the Zimasset document has remained an idle dream. It is sad to note that many young people churned out of universities and colleges cannot be absorbed by the ever shrinking industrial and commercial base. The government cannot provide grants to tertiary students, never mind the ever deteriorating working conditions of lecturers and non-academic staff at these institutions. The health sector has gone to the dogs, we continue to lose lives unnecessarily due to lack of drugs and unavailability of health personnel.
Yet Chinamasa continues to buy new cars for ministers and Mugabe’s globetrotting continues to cost millions of tax payer’s money. Zanu (PF) has failed the people of this great nation and the only honourable thing left for them to do is to resign.
All this is happening in a country where certain leaders stand accused of reportedly building 50-bedroomed mansions. Shame on you for living large in a country where the majority are struggling to put food on their tables. – Lovemore Chinoputsa, MDC-T National Youth Secretary General
