
The development occurred on Wednesday during the nomination court procession where a total of four candidates filed their papers. Mutasa’s papers were filed on his behalf by his chief elections officer Sabina Ranganai Chitema.
Out of the four candidates, namely Christopher Chingosho (Zanu PF), David Mukunda (NCA) and Albert Mukaratirwa (independent), only Mutasa’s papers were rejected.
“Didymus Noel Edwin Mutasa’s papers were rejected. He was not sponsored by the party, which he had indicated in this nomination court,” said ZEC provincial elections officer, retired colonel, Moffat Masabeya.
The three successful candidates were served with their appointment forms.
Magobeya added that a multi-party stakeholders meeting shall be held before the by-elections scheduled for June 10 in accordance in accordance with subsection 70 (c) of section 46 of the electoral Act chapter 213.
“A multi-party stakeholders meeting shall be held at Headlands Malt canal High School at the 10th (of April) starting from 10’ Clock. We encourage candidates and their chief election candidates to attend,” he said.
