Nick and Sarah Jensen, from Canberra, Australia, said they would legally separate but would remain a couple in the eyes of God.

Mr Jensen wrote in the Canberra City News: ‘My wife and I just celebrated our 10-year anniversary. But later this year, we may be getting a divorce.

‘Our view is that marriage is a fundamental order of creation. Part of God’s human history.’

While the couple have stated they would legally divorce – they have said they would continue to be married in the eyes of god, live together and raise their children.

Nick Jensen has previously been employed by the Australian Christian Lobby and now works as a director of the Lachlan Macquarie Institute, a Christian political organisation.
