As more and more applicants become agitated over the long wait for the work documents, whose last application submission date was April 30, the Department of Home Affairs has issued a public notice in the press.
The procedures include a walk-in to the nearest Visa Facilitation Centre, calling the VFS call centre on +27 87 825 0675 during working hours and emailing info.zsp@vfshelpline.co.za to make enquiries.
“Please note that the ZSP permits which are not collected by 30 September 2015 will be returned to the Department of Home Affairs,†reads the notice. “If you have missed your collection appointment or need to enquire about the outcome of your application, please do not hesitate to visit your nearest VFS Global centre. All walk-ins will be accepted.â€
At the close of the online application process on December 31, 2014, about 207,000 applicants had submitted their renewal requests out of a total of 295,000 people that applied when the first special permit was rolled out in 2010.
Notwithstanding deaths, relocation and loss of interest by some of the first applicants, a representative body, the ZSP Partners Committee, believed there could still be many people who missed out on the deadline.
