Yabo tips “strong finishers” DeMbare

Former Flame Lily coach Nesbert ‘Yabo’ Saruchera was this week convinced ‘strong finishers’ Dynamos held a slight edge over log leaders, Chicken Inn and FC Platinum in the race for the Premiership title.

The champions, pushing for a record fifth-consecutive title, hauled themselves back into the picture with a hard fought 1-0 win away to Chicken Inn on Sunday, a result that brought them to within four points of the summit, with six games left to play.

Second-placed FC Platinum failed to take advantage of the log leaders’ fall, a goalless draw with Tsholotsho at Mandava Stadium leaving them level with Dynamos on 45 points, albeit with a superior goal difference.

Saruchera was convinced Dynamos’ reputation as strong finishers could come in handy again, in what is shaping up to be a riveting three-horse race. “It will be a very interesting title race and I am sure it will go right down to the wire. All three teams are still in with a chance but for me, Dynamos have an advantage because they are used to the pressure. They also have a reputation of finishing the season strongly, which could aid them again this year,” he said earlier this week.

All three teams have tough matches ahead, with Dynamos still to play derby rivals Harare City and CAPS United, while Chicken Inn have tough dates with City, FC Platinum and How Mine.
Saruchera however insisted the calibre of the opposition would not be of much significance as the season draws to a close.

“All the matches will be tough now, regardless of the position of the opponent. Teams in the relegation zone are even more dangerous because they are fighting for their lives, while those in mid-table will be playing without much pressure,” he pointed out. Mapeza’s Platinum had been the in-form side going into the weekend matches, but the draw with minnows Tsholotsho meant they remained vulnerable to the odd slip against small sides and that could prove too costly for them.
