A Zimbabwe delegation comprising mining, manufacturing and agriculture players will be heading for Italy for a double barrelled mission, of export promotion and foreign direct investment through massive marketing of Zimbabwe.

The trip set for this February is being facilitated by Italy through its ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Enrico de Agostini.

Change of administration in the country has given Italy optimism of strengthening and re-establishing of Bilateral Investment and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) between the two countries such that Italy becomes Zimbabwe’s export destination of choice and to also entice and assure investors that the country is a safe investment place.

The Italians are known for their great expertise in manufacturing industrial, mining and agricultural equipment with the Fabbrica Italiana di Automobili Torino (FIAT) tractor standing the test of time, while another notable architecture is the construction of Kariba dam by Impresit Company Italiana designed by Coyne et Bellier.

The invitation comes at an opportune time as Zimbabwe is now open for investment and this will see the country enjoying political, social and economic benefits.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa was recently in Davos, Switzerland, where he told delegates to the World Economic Forum that Zimbabwe is open for business, and he met a huge number of potential investors who expressed excitement regarding the new political dispensation in Zimbabwe.- state media
