Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) secretary-general Tendai Biti said that Tsvangirai had secured 60 percent of votes against 30 percent for President Mugabe according to the party’s own unofficial calculations in 128 of the 210 parliamentary seats.
Biti also told a press conference in Harare that the MDC had won 96 out of the same 128 parliamentary constituencies.
The official electoral commission has so far announced the results of only 24 parliamentary contests, giving 12 of the seats to the MDC and 12 to Mugabe’s ruling Zanu-PF party.
Meanwhile Roy Bennett, MDC Treasurer who is based in Johannesburg told The Zimbabwean at 2.30 pm that Morgan Tsvangirai had won well over 50% of the presidential vote according to results posted outside polling stations, and viewed by the public.
