Basketball tourney date set


THE long postponed Zone Six Under-18 basketball tournament the country is scheduled to host has been set for June 2-6 by the Federation of International Basketball Association.


Zimbabwe will host nine countries, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Malawi, Mozambique, Angola and Zambia.Each country will field two teams, men and women, as the battle for the regional championship title takes its course at Harare’s City Sports Centre.Before the schoolgirls and boys showpiece, basketball enthusiasts will also be treated to a potentially blazing showdown of the Zone Six women clubs championship, to be staged on the same venue next week.The 10 regional countries will be represented by two teams as the national champions, JBC and Varsity Leopards seek to put Zimbabwe on the map.Two men sides, Raiderz and JBC will then travel to Zambia for their edition of the regional club championships, to be held next month.
