JOHANNESBURG,  ENERGY Murambadoro, recently retired from international football, has overcome a recent slump in form to prove he is one of the wisest buys of the season.

The Gokwe-born keeper was impressive in between the sticks for his South African club as they bounced back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Thanda Royal Zulu.

The Clever Boys’ season prospects had looked in jeopardy following back to back losses to Moroka Swallows and Mamelodi Sundowns where the opposition put four goals behind Murambadoro.

However, the keeper, an off-season buy from caps United in Zimbabwe, was solid against the Kwazulu-Natal team on Sunday, denying the likes of countryman Peter Ndlovu with a number of fine saves.

A penalty by an otherwise wasteful Sifiso Myeni was enough to propel Wits to third on the log.

The Students, as Wits are known in local football circles, are eager to make up for the disappointment of the last two season, which saw them start strongly but finishing the season fighting relegation and ending with a bare trophy cabinet.
