These are two major agendas that the opposition want to articulate during the on-going 14th session of parliament which started here on Tuesday. However, the camp leader failed to give details on how they are planning to make Mr Pinda responsible over his remarks that people caught killing albinos should also be killed on the spot.
Though, opposition leader hinted at a press conference that a private motion in the parliament, seeking a vote of no confidence over Mr Pinda, would be one of approach to force the PM out of office.
The leader of the opposition in the parliament, Mr Hamad Rashid Mohammed (Wawi-CUF) said there was no way they were going to sit and leave Mr Pinda unpunished' over his statement which was in total disregard of rule of law.
Mr Mohammed said the remarks by the Prime Minister, which are contrary to the constitution, also have huge negative implications to the public.
The opposition camp will challenge the Prime Minister, who is professionally a lawyer, in this seating of parliament, to clarify on his remarks which contradict the Constitution he has sworn to safeguard and uphold, he said.
He said killing somebody who has been caught in the act of committing an offence, amounts to mob justice, as it was court of law only which is charged with responsibility of meting out punishment to offenders.
The opposition camp in the parliament joins a several activists who have blamed Mr Pinda over the remarks he made during his tour of Lake Region to layout plans for war on albino killers.
When the reports were published for the first time many people thought that the PM was misquoted but when the Citizen sought clarification, Mr Pinda insisted that he made the remarks and he meant them.
He said that the remarks reflects the urgency and seriousness with which the Government treated the wave of albino killings in the country. – Daily Nation
