This comes in the midst of reports that the fast-growing mining group, African Rainbow Minerals (ARM), led by billionaire Patrice Motsepe, has registered a company in Zimbabwe to explore coal and platinum mining opportunities.
Africa Investor Events and Marketing Coordinator, Lebogang Molokomme, said while the global mining sector was experiencing the effects of the downturn, many viable African mining investment projects were still available and being pursued by forward-looking investors.
This can be seen through projects such as the Benga Coal investment in Mozambique led by Riversdale Mining, or Impala Platinum investing US$340 million in mine expansion investments in Zimbabwe. The Summit provides the platform for investors to engage with African government and business leaders to explore existing major mining investment opportunities in Africa and Zimbabwe, she said.
Confirmed speakers and delegates for the Africa investor Summit include MHamed Cherif, Head of the ACP Business Climate Facility; Savannah Maziya, Director of WBHO; Paul Runge, Managing Director of Africa Project Access, and Hubert Danso, Vice Chairman of Africa investor.
