Volleyball team confident

volleyballBULAWAYO - Railstars mens volleyball team is confident that they will give a good account of themselves in the Zone Six Club Championships to be staged in South Africa in December.

The event will run from 30 November to 6 December. Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) selected the Railstars and the Harare-based Hawks to represent the country at the event.

Farai Muteveri, the Railstars team manager, said preparations were going well and he was upbeat about the teams chances. We received a letter from ZVA notifying us that we had been chosen to represent the country in Zone Six Club Championships and we have openly welcomed the latest development. We have started our preparations for the games and they are going on smoothly. The boys are ready for the battle and we are optimistic that they will represent the country well and proudly fly our flag high, said Muteveri.

The manager said he would be announcing the final 12-member squad on Saturday and urged all participants to work hard to earn a place in the team. We will be travelling with 12 players and if all goes well we will be finalising on the team this coming Saturday. I would like to urge the players to be positive during practice as no one has a place yet in the squad, he said.

Players expected to make it into the squad include centre man Conrad Kupara, Patrick Mupira and the captain Tawanda Makombe.
