Speaking to The Zimbabwean soon after inspecting hotels and lodges in Bulawayo last week, a ZTA official said most of them had improved significantly. “The introduction of multicurrency has really improved service delivery in our hotels and lodges,” said the official who refused to be named.

He said both leading hotels in the city, Holiday Inn and Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel, had greatly improved. He commended the hotels for attending to their kitchens, cold rooms and bedrooms. The official paid tribute to some private lodges and hotels in the city that he said a tried very hard to maintain standards during the Zimbabwe dollar era despite high inflation.

‘Although there was a general decline in standards in most hotels in the country over the past three years we are glad to say that there were also other hotels and lodges who were doing well during this crisis.

The ZTA team which wound up its routine assessment in the city is also expected to visit Victoria Falls, Masvingo and Midlands provinces.
