bulawayo_agendaIn the bid to provide information to its networks, stakeholders and other interested parties, Bulawayo Agenda has reintroduced the Daily Agenda; a compilation of alerts from the chapters and its network of contacts located in areas where Bulawayo Agenda operates from.

The Daily Agenda offers an alternative source of information from the mainstream media that is often restricted in terms of outreach as it focuses on the grassroots. The Daily Agenda will provide information on critical governance and developmental issues.

Gweru– Gweru residents association will be holding a clean up today at Gweru cemetery after receiving a cleaning materials from a donor. The donation of cleaning equipment is expected to boost the Associations efforts in trying to keep the Midlands town clean.

Harare– A five-member congressional delegation of the U.S. House of Representatives will visit Zimbabwe February 18th 2010 to assess progress in the implementation of the Global Political Agreement, economic reforms and visit U.S. funded humanitarian assistance projects. While in Zimbabwe the Congressional delegation, led by Representative Gregory Meeks (D-New York) and Representative Melvin Watt (D-North Carolina), plans to meet with senior government officials from the major political parties and leaders from non-governmental organizations.

Other members of the delegation include Representatives Andr Carson (D-Indiana) and Jack Kingston (R-Georgia).This is the second visit to Zimbabwe in six months for Congressmen Meeks, Watt and Kingston. In September 2009, Congressman Meeks led a five-member delegation that met with President Robert Mugabe, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Speaker of the House of Assembly Lovemore Moyo and the tri-partite chairs of the Parliamentary Select Committee on the Constitution. -Issued by Tim Gerhardson, Public Affairs Officer, 2010.

Public order and Security Act hearing to be held today 18 February at the Large City hall at 0900 hours.

The Zimbabwe Diabetic Association will be donating insulin to children under the age of 20 years at the Small City Hall at 11am and His Worship, the Deputy Mayor , Councillor Amen Mpofu, will receive the donation.

The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s office, Gorden Moyo, will be holding consultative meetings with Bulawayo residents this weekend. At the following venues:

Sunday: Emakhandeni 21 February 2010 at 0900 hrs

Cowdray Park 21 February 2010 at 1400 hrs
