Bafana Bafana fan club

JOHANNESBURG South African football supporters last week formed a fan club, which is aimed at boosting support for their national soccer side ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which begins in less than two weeks.

While focussing on boosting immediate support for the host team in this years World Cup, the supporters said their broader and long term aim was to achieve 1 million supporters for Bafana Bafana ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

Officially launched by the South African Football Supporters Association (SAFSA) with the blessing of the South African Football Association (SAFA) last Friday the Official Bafana Bafana Fan Club, dubbed a 12th player project, is a culmination of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between BrandOvation of Dr. Nikolaus Eberl and SAFSA.

The projects number one goal is to sign up free membership for the first 1 million fans by 2014, Siyabulela Makunga, SAFSAs secretary general, told The Zimbabwean during the launch. Just recently, we received an Award for Best Supporters in the whole of Africa, bestowed on us by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and through the Bafana Fan Club, we are hoping to go all the way and be the best in the whole world.
