Some football followers believe that Zimbabwe wont have another loyal, intelligent and hard working defender of Thulani Ncubes calibre any time soon. The one time flamboyant captain Thulani Biya Ncube, was known for his loyalty to the Warriors of Zimbabwe, who at one time spent three months in Harare turning out for the Warriors and Zim U-23 sides. He faced criticism from the contingent of Highlanders fans for betraying them but insisted on loyalty to his Nation, saying that he has opted to join the business world.
Currently based in USA, Ncube is determined to conquer the Business World and is setting up business ties in South Africa. I am now a serious businessman and I am working hard to see business succeed, the sky is the limit and I won’t rest until I reach my goal, he said. Ncube believes it is not yet a good time to divulge anything regarding his businesses, but gives us a hint that it Transport management. He is working hard towards improving transport systems in these countries.
Born 33 years ago in Bulawayo, Biya started his career at Zimbabwe Saints and Highlanders juniors where he was promoted to the first team. In that same year he was accorded with a captain ship honour for his genuine leadership qualities. From 1999 he went on to win the Championship with the unstoppable Highlanders outfit for three consecutive years. At that period he was also the captain of the Zimbabwe Warriors and Zimbabwe U-23 sides. After a fruitful six years with Highlanders he was signed by South African Ajax Cape Town, and his career at Cape Town was short lived after he sustained a broken jaw injury which forced him to call it quits before turning 30. Previously he had also tried his luck with some American College football teams but his injury prevented him from succeeding.
It remains to be seen whether the former captain will be as successful off the field as he was on it.
