Malajila has been at the centre of a protracted wrangle between Dynamos and his handlers Chapungu over an outstanding fee. The wrangle had appeared to scupper the player’s career after the air force side Chapungu barred him from turning out for Dynamos until full payment of a US$24 000 transfer fee was made to them. Malajila last week sneaked out to South Africa with his agent Gibson Mahachi for transfer negotiations with Free Stars who are now under the guidance of former Dynamos director of coaching Sunday Chidzambwa.
Sources revealed to The Zimbabwean this week that Chidzambwa who has been given an unlimited transfer budget by his employers has made it clear that he wanted a top striker like Malajila at the South African side. “Chidambwa has made it clear that he wants Malajila at all costs. He was also not happy with Dynamos’ failure to pay Chapungu so that the player’s career was not affected. Malajila is one of the players he has targeted,” said an informed source who requested anonymity.
Malajila, who is also a key member of the national team was expected back home at the weekend ahead of the Warriors clash against Seychelles in a decisive African Nations Championship qualifier. Chidzambwa joined Free State Stars on May 1 after quiting his post as Warriors coach.
