Thousands of Zimbabweans from all over the country and abroad are expected to attend this carnival event, which will be held under the theme: Our promise for real change. Two MDC activists, Daniel Muchuchati and Muranganwa Chanyau, who were incarcerated at Masvingo remand prison on trumped-up political violence charges, have been granted a US$100 bail each at the Masvingo magistrates court.
Allegations against the two are that they assaulted Zanu PF supporters at a rally at Zano business centre in Masvingo North on 16 August. Muchuchati is the Ward 4 councillor for Masvingo Urban while Chanyau is the elections director for Masvingo Urban. The MDC Masvingo South, Ward 30 organising secretary, Coaster Moyo was barred from attending a Copac meeting at Chokwane Ngundu primary school by Zanu PF youth militia in the area.
In Midlands North province Chief Malisa of Silobela, yesterday called for the abandonment of a Copac meeting claiming that the dates were incorrect with what he had been given by the district administrator for the area. Meanwhile, Zanu PF has set up militia bases in Nyanga South, Manicaland province to intimidate villagers during Copac outreach meetings in the area. The Zanu PF militia bases are in Ward 16, Ruchera, Ward 19, Country Club and Ward 15 Dende.
Together, united, winning, ready for real change!
