As this conflict continues to surface, both parties appear to be gearing for the envisaged elections next year. There are fresh reports of renewed attacks on perceived MDC-T supporters in rural and farming areas while the state media has revived its pro-Zanu (PF) propaganda machinery with jingles that praise Robert Mugabe and Zanu (PF). For those who know about Zimbabwe, these are clear signs of an election mode, but the question remains; are Zimbabweans ready for elections and if so, how would they want them to be conducted and what should be the fate of the process of making a new constitution. Let us get talking
Budget
This month, Finance Minister Tendai Biti will present the 2011 national budget. This will be a result of three months of a consultative process that has seen Zimbabweans from across all sectors contributing to the national expenditure. What else should be included in the budget, who should get what? Lets get talking about how our money is spent.
Constitution outreach
The Harare and Chitungiwza constitution outreach meetings were held last weekend with reports of violence, arrests and intimidation in favour of Zanu (PF). Now the constitution goes to the drafting stage before a referendum- set for early next year- is to be held. Speak out Zimbabweans; you have witnessed the troubled process since its beginning, is it a people driven process? Lets discuss.
Responses
In next years general polls, let us avoid violence at all costs to avoid another term of an inclusive government. – Lovemore Kashawo, Harare.
One of the four elements of fraud is misrepresentation that is communicated in a way that will deceive any reasonable person. If one purports that diesel can come out of a rock, then a reasonable person should not allow him/herself to be deceived by that because it is utter nonsense. Why, then, was Rotina Mavhunga convicted? To assume that a bunch of Zanu (PF) imbeciles are reasonable is a serious mistake. Surely the diesel nanga has grounds for appeal. – Raymond Sithole.
