The Chairman of a wildlife pressure group, Zimbabwe Conservation Task, Johnny Rodriguez, told ***The Zimbabwean that Evershed was killed by the big cats while taking an early morning shower.
“This recent trend of people being killed by wild animals is extremely disturbing and we would like to appeal to everyone to be vigilant when in a wildlife area. Wild animals are very dangerous and even more so now that they are traumatized because of poaching and illegal hunting,” said Rodriguez.
A month ago another wildlife conservationist, Geoff Blythe was lucky to escape with his life after an elephant attack in Kariba. In August this year, veteran wildlife conservationist, Steve Kok was gored by a wounded buffalo which he was tracking in the same area. Stray wild animals from the country’s national parks along the Zambezi valley continue to be a danger to the local people and visiting tourists.
