The Beginning of an end

While cosmetics and any such associated surgical procedures might help delay the physical testimonies to the passage of time, Robert Mugabe as the leader of Zanu (PF) regime finds himself and many of his cronies witnessing the beginning of an end to their grip of power within Zimbabwe political landscape.

It is vital for democracy loving people of the world and Zimbabweans in particular not to be complacent and hope that the inevitable change will be an easy ride. Despite the GNU, Zanu (PF) still has control and access to the security machinery and will continue to use any means necessary to maintain their power grip.

Zanu (PF) chairman, Simon Moyo, chillingly stated We must bury forever this combined British and American non-governmental organization. Recent violence on the streets of Harare, the continued harassment, torture and intimidation of opposition members in both rural and urban areas clearly points to the repeat of 2008 horrors.

The strengthening and deployment of Zanu (PF) militia, war veterans and state security agents is a testimony to how the Mugabe regime determined to silence its opponents.

The recent diamond discoveries are being abused and pocketed by the regimes elite, who are further entrenching their power grip and choking any green shoots of democracy.

Cairo and Tunis are miles away from Harare but one needs no interpretation to realize that the events in those cities occurred and triumphed because of People Power- an element which ordinary Zimbabweans have used before and will use as the Zanu (PF) regime nears its end.

Once summoned, the People Power tide, unified by a common cause, is unstoppable.

Sadly an unbearable cost in human lives is inevitable, given the stubbornness and entrenched interests of the Zanu (PF) regime, whose selfish interests are perched up high above that of ordinary Zimbabweans. The centre will not hold as the end nears.
