Lira, Dudus jazz collaboration

dudu_manhenga_marchHARARE - Zimbabwe's Jazz sensation Dudu Manhenga (Pictured) and South Africa's Lerato Molapo are set to collaborate in a Jazz musical project, it has been revealed.

The two popular jazz artistes confirmed that they are working on a collaboration that is expected to put them on another level in as far as jazz music is concerned. They jointly performed at the Jazz Under the Stars show in Harare on Saturday. “Yes, we have already met with Dudu and we have had some discussions about the collaboration. Dudu and I believe in the same values and what has left to us is to see how we can move forward,” said Molapo.

Dudu said: “I am hoping to have a collaboration with Lira and we are going to agree on the idea. I think we will come up come up with something. It’s just the beginning. Lira is a great artist with lots of energy. She is a very lovely person, and her

performance is amazing and has so much energy.”

Lira who confirmed that she had a nice time in Zimbabwe highlighted that she was willing to come back to Zimbabwe for another performance. “I am ready to come back if someone invites me for a performance. It was a wonderful audience,” she said.

During the performance on Saturday Dudu enthused the audience by fusing reggae, opera and other genres with her music. Lira staged such songs as Valley of Darkness, Ixesha, Feel Good, Ngiyazifela and Paqadi which kept the fans on their feet. The show was opened by the couple Tendai Manatsa and Selmor Mtukudzi and closed by Victor Kunonga.
