HIFA entertains prisoners

HARARE - Prisoners and the socially marginalised will this time around have a chance to showcase their talent during the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) set for end of April.

Being held under the theme the Engagement Party this years programme will be spiced by the inclusion of prisoners – if HIFA manages to convince the government to release them. Indeed we would like to work with prisoners and we are looking at the logistics that are involved in order to include inmates under this year programme, said HIFA founding director Manuel Bagorro.

The inclusion of people from different backgrounds is a reflection of the creativity of HIFA.

We are looking at ways of engaging all Zimbabweans including those in prisoners and interested in art to get involved and play their part. We believe that art is a tool that can achieve societal benefits, said Bagorro. Apart from including the prisoners, HIFA is also looking at engaging street kids and the unemployed.
