Dr. Phil brings youngsters home

dr_philJOHANNESBURG - South Africa Gospel musician, Phineas Mashishi (Pictured), known as Dr. Phil, is set to tour Zimbabwe with his contingent of young Zimbabwean musicians in August.

With a rich musical background, Mashishi is determined that his Zimbabwean youngsters, who include Tabani Ncube, will revive the once respected Zimbabwean gospel industry which havs lost respect due to mass movement as a result of political and economic melt down. He says he wants his legacy to live on through youngsters.

I am convinced that these Zimbabwean youngsters will deliver as they are the best, and I want my music legacy to live on through them. Our music touches on everyday social activities. I want people to be aware of what is happening in our societies through these youngsters and I wont rest till we reach our goal. We are going to deliver what people have been longing for a long time, he added.

Last year Dr. Phil released two Gospel albums soon where he was backed by the Zimbabwean youngsters. Entitled THOUGH I WALK and IVANGELI.

His music is made up of African and American Gospel mix. In the next few months Mashishis group will be touring different countries world wide. His first tour will be to Botswana and Zimbabwe.

Born in Hammaskraal, Mashishi has worked with the likes of Junior Moteo Choir in the 1990s and has also worked with South African legends Hugh Masekela, Steve Kekana, and Penny Penny.
