Bhasera to miss Mali showdown again

onismor_bhaseraHARARE - Injured Zimbabwean international left-back Onismor Bhasera (Pictured) will again miss the Warriors must-win encounter against the Eagles of Mali in Harare on June 5 amid reports that he will only return to action next year.

Warriors manager Sharif Mussa said they would monitor progress of the Plymouth defender but expressed doubts that he could be available for the Mali showdown. “We will continue to monitor his progress but I doubt that he will be fit by the time we play Mali because when he was operated on March 21 it was said it would take at least nine months to recover. But you never know he might recover in time and we will just monitor his progress,” said Mussa.

Bhasera was one of the key players who missed the crunch qualifier against Mali in Bamako in February alongside Kaizer Chiefs sensation Knowledge Musona due to injury. However, Musona will be back for the showdown in Harare as he is already playing for his South African club.

The Warriors, who resume the fourth round of their 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Mali in Harare in June, are in third place in Group A having only managed two points from three games. Cape Verde top the group on seven points followed by Mali with six points and Liberia in fourth place with one point.

Mapeza’s charges will now have to win all their remaining games -reverse fixtures at home to Mali and Liberia and an away visit to Cape Verde and hope that other results go their way to have any hope of making it to the finals which will be hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
