Gwaze wins Masvingo grand prix

MASVINGO – Robert Gwaze won the recent Masvingo Open with 6,6 points out of 7 games. He drew his final game with Elisha Thabo in the final round to claim his second Grand Prix this year. In second position was Spencer Masango, with 6 points from 7 games.

There was a tie-break in the third position with Elisha Thabo, Gift Sithole, Chimeri and Lloyd Moyo all on 5,5 points.

The youngest player of the tournament was Kudakwashe Zimbowa of under 14 player was Pride Chipuriro, while Seith Chimeri was the best

Zengeza Primary School, who showed a lot of potential. The best local player with 5,5 points. The best lady prize went to Sinikiwe

Sibanda who scored 5 points while Samantha Chigayo came second with 3 points. Meanwhile two Zimbabweans are doing the country proud in Mozambique – FIDE Master Rodwell Makoto and Dion Moyo.
