A senior ZRA official confirmed in an exclusive interview with The Zimbabwean that tenders would soon be put out to local companies to help the organisation restructure itself and focus more on its core business.
The ZRA is a corporate body established in 1987 through Acts Number 17 and 19 of the Republics of Zambia and Zimbabwe, respectively. It is jointly owned by the two governments, and is responsible for managing the dam, the power station works, and the stretch of the Zambezi River forming a common border between the two countries.
"The main objectives of the assignment to consultants is to review and realign the current organisation structure and staff in order to improve organisational capability required to achieve a strategic fit between human resources and corporate strategic objectives," the official said in an interview.
"The Zambezi River Authority requires consultants to provide the services as outlined in documents and interested firms must submit the tender separately for the Technical Proposal and the Financial Proposal."
The move comes amid reports that both governments are unhappy about services being offered by the current ZRA bosses and comes at a time when both nations are facing severe power shortages.
