Team Zimbabwe's chef de mission, Custom Kachambwa, said they were appealing to well-wishers for support. He said the budget was too big and government, the principal sponsor, needed assistance.
A total of 48 countries are expected to compete in 23 sporting disciplines at the games which will run from September 3-18.
Zimbabwe has entered 17 sporting disciplines – athletics, basketball (women), boxing, chess, cycling, football (women), judo, karate, netball, sailing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, taekwondo, triathlon and sports for people with disabilities.
Sprinter Ngonidzashe Makusha and swimming Icon Kirst Coventry were included in Team Zimbabwe for the Games and are key medal prospects.
