Zimta thief arrested

Police here have arrested one of the three suspects who allegedly robbed Zimbabwe Teachers Association Chief Executive Officer, Sifiso Ndlovu.

The suspects pounced on Ndlovu along the Gweru-Mvuma highway in July, stealing two cell phones and US$3 480. A top police official told The Zimbabwean that Jacob Mucheyi (38) of Kwekwe was rounded up following a tip off from members of the public.

His two accomplices, Tinevimbo Mangena (27) and Versatile Maphosa (29), are understood to be residents of Mkoba, Gweru, and are still at large.

The three allegedly attacked Ndlovu with logs and iron bars after stopping him on the highway. He sustained serious injuries during the incident. It is not the only case that the suspects are being hunted for. The three are understood to have committed other robbery cases along the highway, stealing property worth US$17 475.
