The school was opened on July 25, 1910 by Sir William Milton and Lady Milton. The couple also built Milton High School and Eveline High school, local libraries and other educational facilities in the city.
“I urge Zimbabweans to emulate the vision of Sir William Milton who invested a lot of his time and resources in building schools. This couple had great vision,” said Pettie Nyoni, the school’s headmaster.
Nyoni paid tribute to the teachers for maintaining high standards at the school of 1 095 pupils, 25 teachers and 34 non-teaching staff.
“We have a very clear mission to develop pupils physically, morally and academically,” he said.
