COSATU took to the streets last week to demonstrate against e-tolling and labour brokers. But government said that e-tolling would continue and that labour brokers would not be banned, leaving the trade movement – a tripartite member of the ruling ANC – fuming.
DA Parliamentary leader, Lindiwe Mazibuko, requested a meeting with COSATU General Secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi to discuss ending the deadlock over the proposed youth wage subsidy. But the Union said it saw no benefit in discussing these issues with the DA, with whom “we have fundamental ideological differences on many issues, such as their support for privatisation of public services and labour brokering.”
