It was only at midnight that the mother went back again to search for the girl that she found Nyathi’s hands dripping with blood. “The mother became suspicious and made a report at the police who then apprehended the accused,” police said. Nyathi has since confessed he murdered the girl by stoning her to death after a misunderstanding. This incident comes barely a week after a 37-year-old man was stabbed to death by an unidentified man at Gweru River Bridge.

Teenager murdered in love triangle
A 17-year-old girl has been allegedly murdered by her long-time boyfriend who suspected she was cheating on him. According to police, Melody Kapinga went to fetch water from a nearby stream last Friday. When she did not return, her mother Mirriam Nyoni went and made enquiries at the homestead of Mududuzi Nyathi (27) who happened to be the girl’s boyfriend.
