Jojo starts feeder club

Monomotapa assistant coach, George Jojo, plans to turn his Eastlea Soccer Academy into a feeder club for PSL teams.

The developmental set-up, which caters for boys aged between four and 20 years of age, will begin churning out stars for a number of PSL clubs within the next two years, if the coach’s plans are anything to go by.

“I have invited some top football personalities like Norman Mapeza and Alois Bunjira to the academy to impart some knowledge to the young players during training and it is my hope that this will help in moulding these future stars into what I wish them to be – successful footballers that set the world alight,” said Jojo (44).

The passionate coach, who funds the academy from his own finances, hopes to have fully transformed it into a national success within the next five years. He draws inspiration from successful academy owners and renowned junior development masters, Wieslaw Grabowski and Marc Duvillard.

“After identifying the talent in PSL stars like Monomotapa kingpin Russell Madamombe, Caps United midfield workhorse, Tendai Samanja and Dynamos left wing back, Ocean Mushure, I realised that I had what it takes to tap into new talent for the country,” said Jojo.

“We are looking at twinning arrangements with international academies because the ultimate aim is to give our players the necessary exposure to grow professionally. We want to also organise outreach programmes so that less-privileged rural boys get the chance to show-case their talents.”
