Gunners, fourth from the bottom, staged a spirited fight against Hardbody in a match that ended goalless and did little to help either side’s cause, with just eight games remaining. The two sides remain neck-and-neck with 19 points and a small goal difference that put Gunners at a slight advantage.
Blue Rangers managed to get the full set of points when they beat log anchors Quelaton 3-1 at the weekend and the Bulawayo team, with only 6 points in 22 matches, are surely headed for Division One next season.
They need at least six wins in their last eight games, a feat they have failed to achieve in more than three times that number of matches since the beginning of the season. Winning those six games will also mean nothing if Rangers, Hardbody and Gunners do not lose the same number of games in a row.
Dynamos and Highlanders both registered wins – Bosso completing a double over Shabanie Mine with a 1-0 score line, while Dembare did the same to Motor Action, both on Sunday.
