Moyo frustrated

Former national team defender, Obert Moyo, has revealed his frustration with lack of game time at South African Premiership side, Platinum Stars, but says he is working hard to break into the starting line-up.

The former Hwange and Caps United central defender has fallen down the pecking order as Stars regroup, following an indifferent start to the season.

He last started in August, when his team beat Moroka Swallows 3-1 in their first league game, but was conspicuous by his absence when basement side Amazulu knocked them out of the Telkom Knockout tournament this past weekend.

“It has been hard for me to watch from the sidelines as the other guys play,” the 27-year-old told The Zimbabwean. “It has been difficult to regain a place as the team is doing well in the league currently and the guys that have been selected have been playing well. However, I am hopeful of bouncing back. I am working hard to make a return to the team. I only have to keep pushing myself and remain focused. It is only a matter of time.”

Moyo, who has previously starred for University of Pretoria while they were still playing in the first division, joined the free-spending Dikwena at the start of the season.

A lot was expected from him, owing to his vast experience in the Zimbabwe Premiership and the experience of famously captaining Pretoria University to the final of the 2009 Nedbank Cup, which they eventually lost 0-1 to Moroka Swallows.
