Former Njube Sundowns and Zimbabwe youth international goalkeeper Godswill Saungweme and Pride Zendere, who plays for Swaziland’s Manzini Sundowns, have been confirmed for next week’s tour of Turkey, which could also see more Zimbabweans participate.
Saungweme, coached by countryman Butler Masango at Johannesburg-based BE sport academy, confirmed early this week that he would be part of a 10-day tour of that leaves for Antalya, Turkey starting today. Other countries that will participate in the games include England, USA, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Dubai, China and Turkey.
“This is a lifetime opportunity for me to impress clubs from bigger leagues. With the experience I have gathered at the academy, I foresee a big chance for me to attract interests,” said Saungweme. “I have been looking for a club for some time and this opportunity will be the biggest platform I get to land a big contract. There will be top scouts and football managers from all over the world and everyone at the academy is working hard to impress.”
Another Zimbabwean player who will be at the academy is Pride Zendere from Manzini Sundowns in Swaziland. Former South African top striker, Nkosinathi Nhleko, said Saungweme could make an impact.
“He is a hard worker and should he not develop cold feet or lose focus, anything can happen. Age is also on his side,” said the former Kaizer Chiefs striker. “He has done tremendously well in the academy and is a very talented lad who has a lot to offer to the game.”
