No reaction?

EDITOR - Given Biti’s revelation a week or so ago that the referendum vote was jigged by 15%, I was surprised at the lack of reaction to this astounding revelation.

When I consulted an election expert , I was told that Biti’s figure was conservative, 30-50% was more likely. This week, a politician told me that his estimate of the jigging was in the region of 1.3-1.5 million votes.

Can you hear the alarm bells ringing? There is plenty that can be done and it would be nice to see a bit of decisive action, like an independent audit or even a completely new voter’s roll put in place.

The gloves must come off. Full, free access to the existing voters roll should be mandatory so parties can do their own audits. That includes full access to digital copies at no cost. Zanu (PF) should not be allowed to be the only party with unfettered access whilst everyone else is kept in the dark.

This matter is so serious that it cannot be left unattended. Right now one cannot discount the likelihood that Zimbabwe is staring down the barrel of another stolen election. It’s as plain as day and it surely explains why Zanu (PF) are so silent on the results of the referendum. The last thing they need right now is an audit of, or rectification to, the existing voter’s roll. I firmly believe that Zanu (PF) already know that they can win, even if they lose. – ANON., by e-mail
