MDC-T targets SA hotspots

The MDC-T’s Johannesburg district has launched a “vigorous” campaign targeting Zimbabweans at their favourite sports venues to convince them to register and go home to vote in the next election.

District organising secretary, Trust Ndlovu, said popular drinking spots would be visited weekly to preach the gospel of change and recruit new members. The campaign is aimed at jerking exiles out of their comfort zones to participate in the forthcoming elections.

“Our broad message is that no one will come and solve our problems if we do not do it ourselves through the ballot. We are urging people not only to go home and register to vote for change, but also to encourage their relatives and friends to do likewise so that we get the Zimbabwe we have wanted for more than a decade,” he added.

“We have planned a very big rally in Berea, where we hope to invite national leaders. The time has come for us to forget all petty issues and work for the good of not only the party, but the whole country.”
