Solo was arrested last week in Harare where he was later transferred to Bindura and was charged with insulting Zanu PF’s Robert Mugabe at a rally in Mbire last month.
He was granted a US$100 but was remanded in custody after the State prosecutor Munyaradzi Mataranyika vetoed the granting of bail meaning Madzore will spend another seven days in prison.
However, one of the senior officers at the Bindura Prison, only identified as Chivaraidze (contact details 0772 959 049) is denying visitors access to Madzore since Tuesday.
Meanwhile, police on Monday confiscated two vehicles belonging to MDC members who had gone to the Bindura Magistrates’ Court to show their solidarity with Madzore who was appearing in court that day.
The vehicles are being held at the Bindura Vehicle Inspection Department (VID). No reasons were given on why the vehicles had been confiscated.
The MDC views the abuse of office by the police and the Attorney General’s Office as a clear indication that they are working on the instructions of some dark forces in Zanu PF who are scared of a defeat at the hands of the MDC in the next elections to be held this year.
As a party, the MDC promises the people of Zimbabwe not to panic as these are the signs of a dying and limping donkey that will meet its fate in the election booth this year.
As the MDC we are ready to give the people of new hope as we march towards real transformation.
