The 30-year-old has represented Zimbabwe in several international youth forums, and is the country’s ambassador to a number of international forums aimed at empowering youth globally.

“Sport is not just as a game but a tool for social and economic development. I want to help young people develop through participatory means, beyond colour, creed or race,” said Sekiwa.

With a degree in Public Administration and Communication, Sekiwa went on to establish the Youth and Sport Organisation a few years ago. He is the board chairman of the NGO and works hard to use sport as a tool for change in his community and beyond.

Two projects are currently running under the organisation, the Role Model Effect and Girls Against Aids Soccer Tournament.

Yaso has made breakthroughs in Bulawayo, Chirumanzu, Harare, Kadoma and Mount Darwin. There are plans to expand the projects to other parts of the country.

On an international front, Sekiwa is a board member of Afro Dream, a youth organisation committed to assisting young people to achieve their dreams. The organisation hosts the interactive Zimbo Youth Talk in Harare every month.

“Creativity and hunger for success in difficult circumstances inspires me to work with the youth,” the inaugural secretary of the National Young People’s network on HIV/AIDS, said. “Being the son of a pastor has shaped my ability to work with people.”
