UBH Chief Executive Officer, Nonhlanhla Ndlovu, said the partnership was mooted in February this year after the realisation that India could offer a lot of expertise in the medical field, particularly in specialist services.
“This partnership makes it possible for our patients who require specialist treatment to go to India‘s Appollo hospitals to access the treatment needed at a cheaper fee. Indian doctors will also frequently visit UBH,” said Ndlovu.
Apollo’s Senior General Manager, Harinder Singh, who is leading a team of Indian doctors to Zimbabwe, said many patients visiting UBH would benefit from the partnership.
“During our stay we will try our best to help as many patients as possible .We will offer specialist treatment which is not available in the country,” said Singh. Apollo is an integrated healthcare organisation which runs 50 hospitals. With more than 8 500 beds combined, it is the second largest health care group in the world.
