The Bulawayo-based side underlined their emergence as a formidable force in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with an impressive 3-1 win away to FC Platinum on Saturday.
It was their third win on the spin, and fourth in the five rounds so far played this season. They now sit third on the standings, just a point behind log-leaders Triangle and second-placed Dynamos, who are tied on 13 points.
Youngsters Devine Lunga and George Majika were on target against Platinum, with veteran Clement Matawu sealing victory. New signing Edmore Chirambadare has also looked dangerous in previous matches, with three goals to his name so far in the season. Antipas said recently he expected more from his rising greenhorns.
“We have some very good young players and they have been doing a good job for us so far. Majika and Lunga, a left-back, did well against Platinum,” said the coach.
“Chirambadare is also one of our star players. We are also benefiting from continuity because most of the players were here last year. So it has been good so far.”
Chicken Inn also have in their ranks highly-rated Zimbabwe Under-23 central defender Lawrence Mhlanga, veteran Danny Phiri and former Bantu Rovers midfielder Tafadzwa Kutinyu.
But despite his side’s strength in depth and promising start, Antipas said it was too early to be talking about a title push.
“We just want to focus on the next game. We will continue taking it game by game and see how it pans out. We are not going to put pressure on ourselves by talking about the title,” the former Motor Action coach said.
