However, a diagnosis of cancer is the first of several medical procedures that include treatment through chemotherapy, which treatment I began this week. As a leader and a public figure, I have taken a decision to make public my condition. It is my firm belief that the health of national leaders, including politicians, should not be a subject of national speculation and uncertainty.
I want to thank my wife Elizabeth for her love and caring, my family, MDC members and the broader Zimbabwean society for their prayers and support on this journey.
This health condition is unfortunate but can be faced by anyone. I intend to confront this development with the determination to overcome it. In the meantime, let us remain focused in confronting the national crisis we face.
God bless you all.

Well done Tsvangson! But it would be good if you also explained why you could not have the treatment at home? not being funny but you could shed some light on how bad or how good our health delivery systems are. As we are all Zimbabwean, we would want to have confidence in our doctors and hospitals and if politicians and the wealthy go outside Zimbabwe, I think it is only right we the people are told that our health system is rubbish.
m sure everyone knows the state of our hospitals, and you cannot blame Tsvangirai for going to SA because he is not the one who destroyed the health system in Zim. Those who destroyed are busy going uko kwavasingapore
I don’t think anyone is blaming Tsvangirai and I am not either. The point I am making is our political leaders should bring the subject of our poor health delivery system into the public discussion, instead of quietly going out of the country to seek treatment outside. On another point we do have private hospitals in Zimbabwe that have a fairly decent reputation, if you remember Tsvangirai received treatment at Avenues clinic after his car accident that killed his wife in 2009.
