Rivals wish cancer-hit Tsvangirai well

Similarly, Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) leader Joice Mujuru and MDC leader Welshman Ncube on Tuesday praised the former Prime Minister for coming out in the open about his ailment while further wishing him good health.

Moyo who Twitted his wishes for Tsvangirai’s recovery.

“I wish @MrTsvangirai full & complete recovery in his fight against colon cancer. May God’s favour be with him!” he said.

Tsvangirai, who has withdrawn from public life in recent weeks to nurse his ailment, revealed this Monday he was suffering from dreaded ailment.

Until his disclosure, the former firebrand trade unionist turned opposition politician, had kept details around his ailment under wraps.

In a statement, Mujuru’s spokesperson Gift Nyandoro said the former Vice President commiserated with the MDC-T leader.

“Dr Joice Teurai Ropa Mujuru and the Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) party would like to join Zimbabweans in praying for former Prime Minister, Morgan Richard Tsvangirai, who is recuperating after surgery,” said Nyandoro.

“We applaud the former prime minister for coming in the open about his medical condition.

“As a party, our prayers are with him and we urge Zimbabweans to give him the privacy that he needs during this time that he is on the mend.

“We believe that with all our support, prayers and care, the former PM will recover fast and resume his role as one of the leaders of our country in the shortest possible time.

“Get well soon Save (Tsvangirai’s totem). May the good Lord keep you, may his countenance shine upon you.”

Ncube also took time to wish the MDC founding leader well.

“Just read Tsvangirai’s courageous statement on his medical condition and wish him successful treatment and speedy recovery,” he said in a Facebook posting.

The sympathy directed at the MDC-T leader by opposition leaders comes amid moves by the former rivals to rally their efforts around a grand coalition to contest the 2018 elections as a united front.

The opposition parties have, since the coalition talks were mooted, toned down their rhetoric against one another other.
