The salary structure is contained in Statutory Instrument 176 of 2026, which was published in the Government Gazette on 30 October, almost eight months after the collective bargaining agreement was signed.
Based on the prevailing official exchange rate of US$1 to ZiG26.78, the minimum wage for a Grade A1 employee translates to about US$385.85 per month. At an indicative parallel market rate of US$1 to ZiG32, the package is worth approximately US$365.55.
Under the agreement, employees in Grade A2 will earn US$276.31 plus ZiG3,522.92, while those in Grade B1 will receive US$314.31 plus ZiG4,007.34 per month.
Workers in Grade B4 will earn US$400.69 plus ZiG5,108.90, while employees in the highest category, Grade C4, will receive US$611.56 plus ZiG7,797.35 monthly. Using the official exchange rate, the Grade C4 package is valued at approximately US$902.72, or about US$855.23 at the parallel market rate.
The gazetted figures relate to a collective bargaining agreement signed on 2 March 2026 and cover the period from January to March 2026, rather than constituting a new salary adjustment taking effect this month.
The agreement obliges employers in the broadcasting and media industry to comply with the negotiated minimum wage levels. However, organisations already paying above the prescribed rates will be required to maintain those more favourable conditions of service.
