Sikhala warned Gaddaffi against considering Zimbabwe as a possible safe heaven as the down trodden Zimbabweans would apprehend him and hand him over to the international court of justice.
“Gaddaffi need not be reminded that he bankrolled and oiled Mugabe’s machinery used to violate human rights. Should he accidentally set foot on Zimbabwean soil, we would stage unprecedented mass demonstrations and make life difficult for him.
In fact, every right thinking Zimbabwean would love to be the first to effect a citizen arrest on the deposed dictator and surrender him to the ICC, which recently issued a warrant of arrest against the bruised and defeated former Libyan despot,” said Sikhala.
Sikhala’s statement followed recent media speculations that Gaddaffi was destined for either Zimbabwe or Angola as a refuge. The MDC-T Youth League has also made it clear that Zimbabwe would not be used as a safe heaven for deposed criminals such as Gaddaffi.
