Mugabe keeps Zim guessing…begs for patience

President Robert Mugabe left delegates guessing when he withheld the announcement of his two deputies as well as the party’s National Chairman during the last day of the Zanu (PF) Sixth National Congress on Saturday.

Mugabe pleaded for patience from the delegates present saying the party would convene a politburo meeting on Wednesday or Thursday when the announcements would be made.

He, however, confirmed Mutasa’s ouster when he said he would have to choose a replacement for him.

“On Wednesday or Thursday, we shall convene a meeting were we are going to choose the two Vice Presidents as well as National Chair and we are also seeking someone who will do the job that was being done by Mutasa.

“So I urge you all to be patient,” said Mugabe.

Justice Minister, Emmerson Mnangagwa is tipped to replace Mujuru although some of our sources are of the view that Mugabe could spring a surprise.

Mugabe however announced the names of ten people he had appointed to the party’s central committee as provided for in the party’s amended constitution.

The ten are Supa Mandiwanzira, Pupurai Togarepi, Arguy Georgias, Absolom Sikhosana, Mudhomeni Chivende, Sikhanyiso Ndlovu, Charles Tavengwa, Walter Mzembi, Josephine Gandiya and Simbarashe Mumbengegwi.
