Activist arrested in SA

BY ZAKEUS CHIBAYA JOHANNESBURG - South African-based Zimbabwe Action Support Group President Remember Moyo has been arrested by South Africa Police Services for allegedly using fraudulent documents. Moyo appeared in Johannesburg Magistrates Court last week accused of possessing South African identif

ication document obtained in 1995. In addition to the ID, the Department of Home Affairs alleges that Moyo holds an asylum paper from the same department. He was granted R2000 until 26 January 2006 and ordered to report to police about his movements. The prosecutor had earlier turned down his bail application citing his likelihood of absconding. ZASG has been vocal group on Zimbabwe issues and before March Parliamentary election they staged a successfully march at African National Congress headquarters accusing them of siding with Robert Mugabe regime. They called on ANC to rein in its senior officials, who were making remarks in support Mugabe regime. Recently, they organised another march demanding that the Department of Home Affairs issue asylum papers to refugees.
