Masvingo boot out CAPS from Zifa Unity Cup

HARARE - Masvingo United on Sunday crushed Zifa Unity Cup holders CAPS United 5-1 at Mucheke Stadium to advance to the semi-finals of the knock-out tournament. For Masvingo, it was sweet revenge after they lost out to the same opponents in the league championship on the last day of the season.

It will not matter that CAPS used several reserve team players – what is important and will be in the record books is that they were massacred by Masvingo.

Motor Action are also through to the semi-finals after beating Buymore 2-0 at Gwanzura Stadium.

Motor Action could have scored at least half a dozen goals but were denied by the brilliance of national team goalkeeper Gift Muzadzi. Buymore were never in the game and played more like a boozers’ club than a serious Premiership side. Highlanders beat Chapungu 2-1 to advance to the next stage.
